FAQs
Q: How much material do you require for testing/sizing a mill?
A: Around 50 kilograms usually suffices.
Q: How much does test work cost?
A: If we do the test work. Ie calculation of grinding curves etc. Then we usually do it for free.
If independent test work needs to be done, especially if downstream processing testing is required,
then this is charged from the independent laboratory. There are a number of independent providers of Deswik Mill
test work.
Q: Does Deswik provide performance warranties for their mill (e.g. throughput and product size)?
A: Yes. There are standard 12 month warranties for the mechanical parts of the mill as well as warranties on performance (provided the mill is maintained and run within specifications).
Q: Does the test work provide estimated media and consumables (wear parts) consumption for the full size mill?
A: The test work, we have found, does not scale well in terms of media and wear. We use the consumption data from full scale installs to estimate the wear parameters.
The mill is in use in a number of Chromite applications. This is a very abrasive material so it is possible to understand what the upper limit to consumables costs would be.
