  • The pulp product was hot as expected reaching nearly 60 degrees, a great indication as to whether grinding was taking place.
  • Simple as it sounds, but I believe in metallurgy that if you can see what is going on then you are just a little better off than before. I was happy to be able to look into the mill.

  • Simpler installation with a much smaller footprint.

  • Hydraulic driven shaft – much less hassle if things go wrong and cheaper I am sure. (try repairing a 2,2mW VSD)

  • The variable range of speeds is also larger with hydraulics and it was easy to select different speeds this will be huge advantage for mill start ups.

  • Small impeller blades for maintenance, you don’t need three people to take it off.

  • Wear of “casing” or cylinder should be more even because of vertical installation

  • Maintenance is much easier as you just pull the mechanism out and replace it with another. Huge downtime savings.

  • Simple grinding media hopper and gravity loading system. (Gets complicating and costly when you have to put it into a closed system like horizontal tumbling mills)
