As we continue to evolve, we are seeking a forward-thinking leader to establish a small Innovation or Incubation Hub to enhancement our product portfolio - think Shark Tank / Dragon’s Den and running Hackathons for our Software Development team. The Innovation Hub Lead role is a newly created a senior leadership position with the mandate to build and drive our innovation engine from the ground up.

Reporting to the CTO, this is a rare opportunity to join the business in a senior leadership role to establish our Innovation Hub taking it from concept to reality to conceptualise and prototype future digital technology solutions into the mining industry. You will lead a smart and driven team of software and mining engineers working at the cutting edge of innovation. You'll be hands-on setting up and leading the execution of a portfolio in a rapid incubator approach.
This position will be based in Brisbane in our Software Hub and head office.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the development and prioritisation of an innovation pipeline shaping the future of Deswik as it supports the mining industry
- Engaging across a broad base of stakeholders including, clients, internal management and consultants to deliver value-based customer outcomes
- Akin to an internal start-up, rapidly prototyping solutions and advising on best practices across emerging technology
- Establish framework, processes, decision matrix and governance for identifying ideas to take to the Steer Co for approval to close out or move forward
- Leading and mentoring a brilliant team of engineers and consultants, developing capability in delivering innovation with a curious and adaptable approach
What you'll bring to the team:
- Strong knowledge of the mining technology space with previous experience leading incubator or innovation programs
- Domain knowledge and passion for mining
- A track record of execution or ideation across AI, machine learning (ML), and agentic workflows
- Previous experience working with cloud (AWS) and agile methodologies a must
- Demonstrated experience standing up a new business unit or team and establishing processes and governance, etc
- Confidence engaging with technical architects, software and mining engineers, and stakeholders to align on outcomes
- Real-world leadership in consulting, including people development and mentoring
- A curious mind and a love of learning - ideally backed by certifications and hands-on experience across multiple tech platforms
- The ability to translate complexity into clear langue and prototype solutions - verbally and visually
- The ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with changing requirements and failing fast if required
- Strong people leadership to stand up effective project teams, work with Steer Co’s and present products to the Board to rule out or hand over to Software to develop.
